Where We Work

Mission10:14 is currently working in West Africa to engage small and isolated people groups that have little or no access to the good news of the gospel.

Mali
Mali is the largest country in West Africa and is bordered by seven other states: Algeria (north/northeast), Burkina Faso (southeast), Cote d’Ivoire (south), Niger (east), Mauritania and Senegal (west). The capital city of Mali is Bamako, which means “crocodile river.”

mappingMali is one of the poorest countries in the world, with about half of the population living on less than $2US per day.

As with many other African countries, Mali is a place of variety in both its people and history. Geographically, Mali is home to the famed city of Timbuktu. With a great portion of the country’s north covered by the Sahara Desert, much of life is still somehow connected to the Niger River that flows through the country’s south. Djenne, one of Mali’s oldest cities, boasts the largest mud-stick structure in the world, the Central Mosque of Djenne. The city is recognized as the birth place of Sahelian Architecture, with the mosque serving as the supreme example.
